Let us assume we are interested in a specific topic: reconstructing the conception of the unconscious as proposed by Freud in this book.

The Associations function shows the words that share co-occurrence contexts with the key-term.
The selection of the words is carried out by the computation of an Association Index (the Cosine Coefficient).
In the diagram on the left, the relative proximity to Unconscious indicates the degree of association of each considered word.
The words considered as a whole are the context of relationships which define the local meaning of key-term.

For each graph, a table shows the data used to create it.
Column by column the reading keys are as follows:
- LEMMA_B = lemmas associated whit "central" lemma (or LEMMA_A; see "unconscius");
- COEFF = cosine coefficients;
- OCC_B = occurrences of each LEMMA_B;
- ASSOC_AB = co-occurrences of lemmas "A" and " B ".

For an in-depth exploration and detailed check of the elementary contexts (sentences) in which Freud uses this term, we can use the function Concordances.

One click on each of the selected segments enables us to check each specific occurence context.

It is also possible to export a file with all 168 segments containing the key-word Unconscious (see table below)

Finally, the function Sequence Analysis enables us to check which key-words are most likely to be the predecessors or successors of unconscious in Freud's essay. In the diagram, greater proximity to the key-term indicates a connection with a higher degree of probability (e.g. dream-unconscious and unconscious-think).

Two tables show the sorted list of predecessors (the first) and successors (the second) of each selected lemma.
The list is in a descending order according to the probability values ("PROB"). For example, in the following table, the probability that the lemma "wish" will follow the lemma "unconscious" is equal to 0,250, that is 25.0%.
